'Anonymous' Does the Dirty Work

The 'hacktivest' group known as Anonymous has now changed gears and is targeting Child Pornography. The group is calling it "Operation Darknet." Anonymous will no longer wait for SOPA or PIPA to pass and take away our internet rights; they have taken matters into their own hands by forcing 40+ websites containing child pornography off the internet including a website called 'Lolita City,' which contained over 100 GB of child porn. Anonymous ended their statement with the following demand: “Remove all child pornography content from your servers. Refuse to provide hosting services to any website dealing with child pornography. This statement is not just aimed at Freedom Hosting, but everyone on the internet. It does not matter who you are, if we find you to be hosting, promoting, or supporting child pornography, you will become a target.”

Thanks Guys!

Monopoogle

I must be brainwashed.  I've never supported a monopoly until now.  Google wants to put its foot in every aspect of the internet.  I guess I would have more of a problem with it if it weren't for how damn cool Google is.  It's like when an asshole [person] is so suave you can't help but like him.  Google is that lovable asshole that you can't say no to because without it, life would be much harder (of course you could live without it, we have for a couple thou before it).

I always talk about how I want to someday live off the grid but I'm the worst; I use my computer a couple hours every day and Google hundreds of times a day -- especially on youtube.  It's just so easy to go to the url bar on my Chrome web browser and type anything I want.  Just try and stop me.  Even this blog is Google, well Blogger is 1 of nearly 50 'products' Google offers for free.  I'm hesitant to get on their free cloud services just for the fact that nothing is free in this society, it seems a little suspicious and could end up being a trick to get your info then charge monthly.

In conclusion, I'd like to welcome our new King Emperor of the Internet by saying: All Hail Google.  I am in your command.  I will destroy all others that get in your way.

R.I.P. MEGAUPLOAD?

One of my two primary file sharing sources has been taken down and may never return.  Megaupload was shut down earlier today by Federal Prosecutors for "costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue" according to The New York Times.

A few hours later, a group of "hacktivists" known as Anonymous attacked the following websites: Department of Justice, Universal Music Group, the Recording Industry Association of America, and the Motion Picture Association of America with a trick called "distributed denial of service".  DDoS brings a torrent of traffic and temporally crashes the website and is completely legal.  Anonymous tweeted "One thing is certain: EXPECT US! #Megaupload".

I didn't think that each side of the SOPA movement were at such high boiling points, but I can't wait to see the next move; I feel like a family having a picnic during the battle of Bull Run.

Pro Bloggin'

One similarity I'm finding between pro bloggers is their fascination with links.  Bloggers seem to rely on links to first find interesting content and then later push others towards it.  I find the act of making money off blogs very compelling and attractive.  I need to get into this business, but doubt that my skills are worthy of advertisers interest.  One aspect I don't quite get or like is the rating scale; one thing I enjoy about the internet is how everyone is equal or was equal at one time.  I believe creating a popularity contest sets a goal to reach the top no matter how genuine.  There are techniques a blogger could use to appeal to the masses strictly for views and sully the original intentions of the weblog.
